STANLY COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT  RECEIVES GRANT FROM RESTORE FOR 3.7 MILLION!

Albemarle, NC (10/4/2019)  – Stanly County School District is pleased to announce it has received a $3.7 million grant from the School Climate Transformation Consortium comprised of key community stakeholders from SCS and Montgomery County School District to identify the most critical gaps and needs affecting school climate. These funds will support our focus on implementing an evidence-based multi-tier system of supports (MTSS) model targeting behavior, social-emotional learning, and academics for 3,492 K-12 students in 10 target high-need schools (five schools per district).

RESTORE’s whole-school, whole-child, systems approach will help districts and schools design a comprehensive, systematic early intervention and prevention leading to increases in teacher effectiveness, gains in student academic achievement, and decreases in behavioral incidents.

Funding from this grant will provide additional staffing for services such as the following:

  • Expansion of Social Emotional Learning and Character Education support
  • Trauma-Focused School-Based programs 
  • Too Good for Drugs and Violence Program
  • Strengthening Families Program
  • Second Step Program
“Stanly County is lucky to have received yet another grant to help support our students.  Educating the whole child is extremely important in today’s society. This brings the total grants acquired by SCS to over 10 million in the past 18 months.” stated SCS superintendent Jeff James.
