The Elementary Battle of the Books Competition is for 4th and 5th grade students only. The game format creates interest and excitement in reading. Through the fun and enthusiasm of preparing for the competition, students improve reading skills, mature in their choices of reading materials, and acquire a broader knowledge base. Students begin reading EBOB books when school starts in August. School teams are usually finalized in January. The EBOB Competition is usually in mid-April.
