School Improvement Plans
School improvement plans are written improvement plan for each school, required by state law, that includes strategies for improving student performance taking into account the annual performance goals for the school set by the State Board of Education; how and when improvements will be implemented; use of state funds; requests for waivers, etc. Each school improvement plan must be approved by the local board of education and may be in effect for no more than three years. Title I schools and non-Title I schools must revise their school improvement plans after not making Adequate Yearly Progress in the same subject for two consecutive years. The plan must establish annual, measurable goals and overall improvement objectives (related especially to achievement of Adequate Yearly Progress), analyze why the school has not yet achieved its goals, and describe what strategies the school will use to improve performance.
