Grounds Maintenance
Maintenance is responsible for maintaining some campus grounds and a Lawn Contractor handles others. Normally custodial personnel are responsible for the area closest to the building itself. This includes removing grass from flowerbeds or around shrubs.
Athletic fields are normally the responsibility of the athletic department.
Roundup or any other type grass or weed killer will only be used on Stanly County Public Schools property by those personnel that have obtained a NC Department of Agriculture Ornamental and Turf Pesticide license. Incorporating the application of herbicides in your lawn care contract is a good way to meet this need.
The use of herbicides should be kept to a minimum. The control of weeds and unwanted grasses should be handled by physical removal and the use of weed eaters when at all possible.
