Finalists:

Jarret Elliott

North Stanly High School

Mr. Elliott is completing his 19th year of teaching this year.  He works tirelessly to build relationships with students, help them set goals, and prepare for a future.  He is a co-advisor of our strong FFA Chapter and coaches students in local, regional and state level FFA competitions.  Mr. Elliott thrives on interactions with students and coworkers!  He is a valuable asset to the North Stanly High School team and the COMETS are lucky to have him! 

Jade Fairfield

Locust Elementary

Mrs. Fairfield has many strengths that make her one of the best teachers at Locust Elementary. She is extremely prepared and knows her content very well.  She knows her students’ academic levels and uses this to help students fill in academic gaps and learn at a greater rate.  She uses activities and tasks that actively engages students.  Whether she is teaching math, reading, or any other subject she works to bring the content to life.  She is organized, trustworthy,is a team player and loves the students she teaches. 

Meredith Howell

South Stanly High School

Meredith is the model of what a teacher should be: dedicated, creative, organized, a go-getter, intelligent, and concerned for equity for all students. She works to create opportunities for kids, both in the classroom and outside, as demonstrated through the Washington DC trip and the holocaust class.  She is a driven, organized teacher who develops inspiring relationships with her students.  Meredith embraces opportunities for professional development, and she has a wonderful rapport with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.  

Kelly Lambert

Endy Elementary

When you walk into Mrs. Lambert's ocean themed classroom, you step into a learning environment that is engaging, colorful and inviting for students.  She strives for her students to have the best experience each and every day.  She understands that curriculum and academic progress matter, but relationships matter more. On any given day you will find her giving "sand dollars" for positive behavior, leading small groups for instruction, chopping letters on the floor mat and pulling from her bank of instructional strategies in order to do whatever it takes to make students successful.  

Amanda Yow

Oakboro STEM

Mrs. Yow models and builds strong relationships in her classroom through her actions. She takes time to build relationships not just with her students but also with their families.  Her positive interactions in the classroom and in the community impact the overall success of her students.  She loves reaching out to new teachers to ensure they feel supported. She welcomes student teachers into her classroom and provides them with a positive environment in which to grow and learn professionally.

 
Stanly County Schools Teacher of the Year will receive 2 special gifts from our local sponsors:  a certificate for a 1 hour organic facial from Albemarle Nutrition and a coupon for a $30 Car Wash from Tidal Wave Auto Spa.    In addition, Go Global will be applying for another grant from the Mariam and Robert Hayes Charitable Trust Foundation for an all-expense paid international trip for our Teacher of the Year.
 
 
 Assistant Principal of the Year Finalists:
 

Brian Bradshaw- West Stanly High School

Mr. Bradshaw strives to listen and create relationships with students while still holding them accountable to school wide expectations. He leads with integrity and is extremely knowledgeable about Board Policy. He is not afraid to ask tough questions and stand up for what he knows is right!  He is always willing to help out and be a presence wherever he is needed. 

Marty Ingram- Albemarle Middle School

Mr Ingram is a thoughtful administrator always making sure that students are the center of every decision made.  Students love Mr. Ingram and often come to talk to him for advice or support.  While he is very much a comforter, he also expects every student to be their very best.  He certainly lives to the standard of every student, every day.  

 

Principal of the Year Finalists:

Jodi Autry - 

Endy Elementary

Mrs. Autry  has done a great job with establishing and leading the DLI program at Endy. She is always taking advantage of opportunities to learn and grow as an administrator.  She is loved by staff, colleagues and the community for her dedication to the school and the DLI program.

Megan DePasquale - 

North Stanly Middle School

Mrs. DePasquale pours herself into both the staff and students by being present, spending time in the community, and truly getting to know everyone in the building. She is dedicated to academic achievement, reflection on data, and equity for our students, making a point to establish a positive culture at North Stanly Middle School. 

Kelly Dombrowski - 

STEM Early College

Mrs. Dombrowski previously led Oakboro STEM to excellence and has done a great job taking over Stanly STEM.  She models  Excellent Leadership in every role she is assigned. She always has a positive attitude and is easy to work with!   

Julienne Fallen - 

South Stanly High School

Mrs. Fallen’s knowledge and experiences have been extensive in her role as an administrator.  She is currently working on her doctorate and is always seeking to better herself in order to lead her staff and students to greatness.  Mrs. Fallen keeps students at the forefront, and is passionate about helping students succeed.

Anne McLendon - Albemarle Middle School

Ms. McLendon is an exceptional Principal and leader. She has made incredible improvements to the AMS atmosphere and school culture. Mrs. McLendon has worked hard to build a climate of open communication and a “can do” environment for Albemarle Middle School.  This, along with a concentrated focus on academics, has established Mrs. McLendon as a strong change agent within the school.
