Stanly County Schools is pleased to announce Zachary Caldwell as the district’s new Director of Student Safety and Security.

Mr. Caldwell brings a strong background in public service, school safety, and community engagement to the role. Over the past seven years, he has served in law enforcement in a variety of capacities, including patrol officer, narcotics detective, and most recently as a School Resource Officer with the Stanfield Police Department.

Prior to his law enforcement career, Mr. Caldwell served nearly four years in the United States Army, including a deployment to Afghanistan. He also earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Stanly Community College.

As Director of Student Safety and Security, Mr. Caldwell will work closely with district leaders, school administrators, law enforcement agencies, and community partners to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.

“I am honored to serve as the Director of Student Safety and Security for Stanly County Schools,” said Caldwell. “My goal is to continue building on the tremendous progress our school system has made in school safety over the past several years. My priority is to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff while maintaining positive, approachable relationships throughout our schools and community.”

He added, “Every student deserves to learn in a safe environment. I’m excited to lead efforts that strengthen school safety while building positive relationships throughout the school community.”

A native of Albemarle and a proud graduate of West Stanly High School, Mr. Caldwell says it is especially meaningful to have the opportunity to serve the community that helped shape him. His wife, Jessica, is a teacher at Endy Elementary School, and together they are raising their four children: Lilly, Zander, Hudson, and Bennett.

Outside of work, Mr. Caldwell enjoys spending time with his family and investing in local youth through athletics. He helps coach the West Stanly Middle School football team, the West Stanly Youth Football League, and a recreational basketball team at Endy Elementary. Through coaching, he has found opportunities to mentor young people, build lasting relationships, and remain actively involved in the community he proudly calls home.

Stanly County Schools is excited to welcome Mr. Caldwell to this leadership role and looks forward to the experience, dedication, and servant leadership he will bring to the district’s ongoing commitment to school safety and student well-being.
