Stanly County Schools is pleased to announce Ashley Walker as the new principal of North Stanly Middle School.
Mrs. Walker has served as assistant principal at North Stanly Middle School for the past three years and is entering her 14th year in education. Before joining the Comet family, she taught Health and Physical Education and coached volleyball at Mallard Creek High School, Kings Mountain High School, and West Cabarrus High School.
Mrs. Walker earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Health and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University. She is entering her fourth year in school administration and was recently recognized as the Runner-Up for Stanly County Schools Assistant Principal of the Year for the 2025–2026 school year.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Walker has embraced a collaborative leadership style focused on building strong relationships and maintaining high expectations for student achievement.
“My leadership style is collaborative and centered on high expectations that drive student success,” said Walker. “I believe the best outcomes are achieved when educators, students, families, and the community work together.”
Having spent the past three years serving the North Stanly Middle School community, Mrs. Walker is excited to continue building upon the school's success in her new role.
“I am especially excited to continue my journey with the Comet community,” she said. “Over the past three years, I have seen firsthand the incredible dedication of our students and staff. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that already exists as we strive for academic growth and opportunities for all students to succeed.”
Originally from Florida, Mrs. Walker enjoys visiting the beach, camping with her husband and their three children, competing in grass volleyball tournaments, and cheering on her own children as they participate in sports.
