Stanly County Schools is pleased to welcome Mrs. Kelly Kennedy as the new Assistant Principal serving Locust Elementary School and Badin Elementary School.
Mrs. Kennedy begins her 21st year in education, bringing extensive experience in elementary instruction, curriculum development, coaching, and school leadership to her new role. She spent 16 years as an elementary classroom teacher before transitioning into a Curriculum Coach position, where she served for three years and developed a deeper expertise in literacy, data-driven instruction, and supporting educators through instructional coaching.
With a desire to expand her leadership experience and better understand the administrative side of education, Mrs. Kennedy was selected as a North Carolina Principal Fellow. She attended UNC Greensboro, where she completed the Principal Preparation for Excellence and Equity in Rural Schools (PPEERS) administrative program. Most recently, she served as an Assistant Principal Intern at the middle school level, an experience that further prepared her for her next chapter in school leadership.
Now returning to her elementary roots, Mrs. Kennedy is excited to serve two school communities and build meaningful relationships with the students, staff, and families of Locust Elementary and Badin Elementary.

Outside of education, Mrs. Kennedy enjoys spending time with her husband and their almost seven-year-old daughter, whom she affectionately describes as her "twin."
