NSHS DRAFTING COURSES
Drafting Level 1, We discuss the use of simple and complex graphic tools used to communicate and understand ideas and concepts found in the areas of architecture, manufacturing, engineering, science, and mathematics. These images include problem solving strategies, classical representation methods such as sketching, geometric construction techniques, orthographic projection, and 3-D sketching.
Honors Engineering Drafting 2 & 3, focuses on engineering graphics, symbol libraries, industry standards, and sectioning techniques. The drawings include using coordinate systems, principles of machine processes and gearing, and the construction of 3-D Wireframe models using computer assisted design (CAD), specifically INVENTOR software.
Honors Architectural Drafting 2 & 3, focuses on the principles, concepts, and use of complex graphic tools used in the field of architecture, structural systems, and construction trades. Emphasis is placed on the use of computer assisted design (CAD) tools, specifically REVIT software in the creation of floor plans, wall sections, and elevation drawings.
English language arts, mathematics, and science are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for these drawings include apprenticeship, cooperative education, internship, and job shadowing.
