Student Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Ericka Coone

Ms. Ericka Coone is currently serving as the school counselor at East Albemarle Elementary while completing her Master of Education in School Counseling through Grand Canyon University, with graduation set for 2026.

Ms. Coone shared:
"My internship is a key component of my program, which requires 600 hours of supervised field experience in a school setting. It serves as a capstone course, allowing me to integrate the knowledge and skills I've gained throughout the program with real-world practice.

The experience is helping me grow into my professional identity as a school counselor, emphasizing ethical and professional standards, collaboration with stakeholders, and the development of diverse counseling skills. Prior to the internship, I also completed 100 hours of practicum work."
