Programs for Exceptional Children
The mission of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Exceptional Children's Division (NCDPI EC Division) makes a commitment to “ensure that students with disabilities develop intellectually, physically, emotionally, and vocationally through the provision of an appropriate individualized education program in the least restrictive environment.”
Stanly County echoes this mission. The Exceptional Children’s Program provides specially designed instruction and programming designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities according to federal and state mandates of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Eligibility for the Exceptional Children’s Program
Stanly County School System serves students with disabilities, ages 3-21 as determined by the Individual Education Program (IEP) Team. Information regarding eligibility and procedures can be located in NC Policies Governing Services for Students with Disabilities manual.
