Benefits Overview
 
Health Insurance
The state of North Carolina offers health plan coverage to all eligible teachers, state employees, retirees and other individuals under Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.  The plan offers two Preferred Provider Organization plans.  Please review the rate/information sheets below to determine which plan works best for you.  Deductions for premiums will be made from your first check with coverage beginning on the first day of the following month.  Additional information can be found on the State Health Plan website.  
 
Vision Insurance
Optional vision insurance coverage is provided through Superior Vision Company.  Please refer to the coverage information below and page 42 and 43 in Stanly County School Flexible Benefits Plan for the rates.  Deductions for premiums will be made from your first check, with coverage beginning on the first day of the following month.  If you decide not to take this coverage, please write declined on the form and sign and date.

Dental Insurance
Optional dental insurance is offered to employees through Delta Dental.  The rates for insurance are listed on the insurance rate sheet included below and on page 40 and 41 of the Stanly County School Flexible Benefit Plan.  If you refuse coverage initially, you will not be allowed to enroll until an open enrollment date is announced.  Everyone has a three month waiting period before insurance is effective.  Deductions for premiums will be made from your first check, with coverage beginning on the first day of the following month.  All premiums are pre-tax deductions in accordance with our IRS 125 cafeteria plan.

Life Insurance
Basic coverage of $5,000 is provided for full time employees by the Stanly County Board of Education. Optional insurance is available for you and your dependents. A description of the plan along with the rate is enclosed. If you do not wish to receive the optional coverage, we will still need the enrollment form completed so that we can have a beneficiary on file for the basic coverage.

Retirement
We are required to deduct 6% of your gross salary each month for your retirement account.  All forms will be sent to your home address from the Retirement System after you are paid for the first time.  More information concerning your retirement system benefits may be obtained from the State Treasurer's website.
